The Village of Alton is on the northwest side of Caledon. It is less than 10 minutes to Orangeville.

Alton was incorporated in the early 1850's and, according to a brief history by William R. Meek, at one time, it had 8 power dams that powered the many mills in the area. This prosperous timeframe would explain the abundance of century homes in Alton today. Some have been gutted and rebuilt while others are still waiting for an industrious person with vision to bring them back to their former charm.

Along with Alton's historical buildings you will find bungalows and 2 storey homes with priced from the low $500,000's to over $1,100,000 with average homes now running $600,000 to $700,000.  Thomas Farms is a new development of approximately 120 homes that is planned for the southeast corner of Mississauga Road and Queen Street.

Alton Mill originally opened in 1881Alton also has a growing artistic community, with shops along Queen StreetAlton Mill originally opened in 1881 and into the old Alton Mill.  The Alton Mill has been rehabilitated and the building & shops are more exciting than ever. The buildings and scenery around The Mill are certainly worth a gander.

Of course, Alton is home to The Millcroft Inn & Spa which is a luxurious over-night destination for those looking for a spectacular meal, quiet surroundings and the opportunity to relax in the spa or explore the neighbourhood.

Alton's big secret, however, is Ray's 3rd Generation Bistro Bakery. Don't let the name fool you, Ray's is way more than a bakery.  Chef Jason offers exceptional gourmet meals at prices that will make you a "regular".  Local musical talent, a casually elegant ambiance & the option to sit outside in the private, grassy courtyard make dining at Ray's a completely enjoyable experience.

The excitement in Alton right now is for Osprey Valley Golf Course, which is on the south side of Alton,  has become TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.  It is Canada's only TPC property and is aligned with the PGA Tour.  On October 1, 2019, TPC announced that they are working with Hicks Design Studio to design a new clubhouse, on-site accommodations & corporate retreat.

Alton has its own Public School with children going to Mayfield Secondary School  for high school.  French Immersion is offered by Herb Campbell Public School with high school FI being offered by Humberview Secondary School in Bolton.

Catholic schooling is available to children who live in Alton.  They are bussed to St. Cornelius and Robert F.Hall Secondary School, both which are located in Caledon East.

If Alton sounds like the place you would like to call home, please contact me - I'd love to help make your dream a reality!
