This lovely, gracious hamlet has conservation area parks both to the north and south, with the Caledon Trail running right through! Albion Conservation Area to the south, allows camping, fishing, hiking, cycling, swimming and non motorized boating in the summer and has 27 km of skiing trails with skaters and tobogganers enjoy the lake and the hill leading down to it.
Palgrave Conservation Area is to the North and the 35 km Caledon Trails uses the old rail trail to create an easy ride down to the southwest corner of Caledon.
A mix of residential and commercial keeps Palgrave's Main Street energized. Like so many Caledon communities, older homes have been converted into businesses, especially along the main streets. This convergence of live/work energizes small hamlets & villages as the local residents appreciate, support and promote the services offered by their neighbours.
Children in Palgrave go to school at Palgrave Elementary School. They progress to Humberview Secondary School for Grades 9-12. French Immersion is made available to children in Palgrave at James Bolton Elementary School until grade 5, then they move to Allen Middle School for grades 6-8 and to Humberview for high school level French Immersion. Children in the Catholic School system go to Pope John Paul II in Bolton and to Robert F Hall for High School in Caledon East.
